The Edge Skating School
Group Skating Lessons for children & adults!
The Edge Skating School at The Ice Center is proud to offer group skating lessons for all ages & abilities. Our program serves the needs of both the recreational and aspiring competitive skater. The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning while they progress and develop strong fundamental skating skills that will enable them to participate, with confidence, in the sports of ice hockey and figure skating. Plus it's fun!

- Classes on Wed. & Fri. include a 30 minute lesson & 30 minutes of supervised practice time. Only registered students are allowed on the ice. Parents, friends and other family members may watch from the stands or the Snack Bar.
- Classes on Saturdays are held during the first half hour of a public skating session, with the rest of the public session included for practice. Parents, friends and other family members must pay separately to skate on public sessions.
- Classes will be divided by age and skill level on the first day. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow plenty of time for registration & class assignment, renting & getting skates on, etc.
- A properly fitted helmet (hockey, multi-sport, ski or bicycle) is strongly recommended for everyone, especially children age 6 and under and new adult skaters. A limited number of helmets are available for purchase or rent.
- Proper fitting and expertly sharpened skates are an important element in rapid skating development. Skates should be laced tight, not loose. Rental skates are available in Figure and Hockey styles and are included in your class fee. Please provide ample time before class to get a proper pair of skates that fit.
- First time skaters might want to try Figure skates because they lace all the way up the ankle for a tighter fit and have a slightly longer blade offering a little more stability. If you choose Hockey skates remember to make them as tight as possible.
- Layers of clothing are essential as you may need to remove single layers to remain comfortable through a typical class and practice time. Gloves are absolutely necessary if you plan to remain warm. One pair of long, thin socks is adequate.
- The Ice Center does not accept credit/debit cards. Cash or checks only. Please make all checks out to The Ice Center. Payment in full is required at time of registration. No refunds after the first class.
