Managers Notes or "Hey, that's my job!"
We thought you might like to know a little more about the "behind the scenes" at The Ice Center. Each week Jay, our Operations Manager and I, Kelly Lilly, Rink Manager, will bring you a little tidbit to give you the inside scoop. Have you always wanted to know something about the rink and how it works? Let us know and we can address it.
Kelly's Corner:
Keeping up appearances
Now that I have been here for a full year I feel like I have seen the cycle of the rink for the first time. Being a year round rink there are certain "seasons" that we go through in terms of returning groups, organizations and seasonal skaters in the area. While I have by no means met everyone who skates here I feel like I now know a lot of the 'regulars' who have been here longer than I.
These people who have been skating here for over 6 years know the history of the rink and the progression through which it has gone over these years. Me? I know if from skating here before I worked here and essentially living here this last year. Now I have a better understading of what we need to do to take this fantastic facility to the next level.
This summer we will embark upon a few projects that, while it may not make you skate better, should make your overall experience here better! Paint, drywall, windows... these are a few of the items on our "punch list" that will be started here shortly. Aesthetics mostly with some construction thrown in there. We have done some other smaller ticket items you may have noticed that may not have bugged you before but you always wondered "hhhmmmm... why isn't that there?" This includes hooks for your towels in the showers, new paint on the hockey nets, air freshners / deodorizers in all the locker rooms. Small things can make a difference.
I feel like this summer I want to make difference so that when I walk in the door I like what I see and feel good about what we are doing. If you want to help or have any suggestions about a project, please let me know. I am ready to make it happen!
I try to make a difference for you because, "Hey, that's my job!"
